 1.       Stories and movies about mummies have been around a very long time. Such fiction is based on an ancient Egyptian religion. Ancient Egyptians thought that people continued to live after they die. Because of this belief, the Egyptians made a lot of preparations for life after death, especially for the kings and queens. They wrapped the body in pieces of cloth called linen to prevent it from rotting. They preserved the bodies by drying them and applying special chemicals.

So where did these bodies go? They are actually placed in great pyramids that amazed millions of tourists today. It is always exciting to hear real stories that people discovered the tomb of a mummy. The mummies were so well preserved that some still exist today. One of the most famous was that of King Tutankhamen.

Ancient Egyptians also believed that items placed in the tomb could be used after death. As a result, they put in things such as clothing, food, and jewelry. Other things that were put into tombs were statues representing servants who could help the kings and queens in life after death. Pets, including cats and monkeys, were sometimes mummified as well.

Ancient Egyptians thought that some magic spells could bring the dead back to life. However, the only mummies that have come back to life are in books and films.

2.         The work of established artists can be a great influence to young artists just beginning their careers. When Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was just beginning his work as a classical composer, he had the good fortune to meet the composer Joseph Haydn.Over twenty years older than Mozart, Haydn already enjoyed fame and success as a composer. He was known across Europe and regularly invited to play at the courts of royalty. As luck would have it, Mozart and Haydn met at a performance in Vienna and, surprisingly, developed a mutually admiring friendship.

While young Mozart revered the work of Haydn, Haydn was genuinely inspired by the innovation and creativity of Mozart’s compositions. The two had a friendship that diverged from the normal mentor relationship. Although there was a significant age difference—Haydn was 52 and Mozart was 28 when they met—they treated each other as equals. Their greatest difference was related to style. While Haydn’s work was carefully structured and more traditional, Mozart’s work was endless in its variation. Their stylistic differences brought the two men closer together, as they each learned from the other what they lacked. Under the influence of Haydn, Mozart’s music was more organized and Haydn learned that a new world of sound existed outside of his traditional, classical compositions.

The best matches are between two people who complement each other. Among the two musicians, Mozart went on to become more famous. However, if Mozart and Haydn had shared the same strengths, Mozart’s talent would not have developed as fully. With exposure to different styles, artists are better able to define their own style. Without Haydn, there may have been a completely different Mozart.
